Evaluating project completion times when activity times are Weibull distributed

چکیده

Activity networks have been used to model complex projects with wide applications in the field of production, planning and control. Stochastic activity networks (SANs) require a priori distribution function (d.f.) such as normal, exponential, Erlang and others. In this paper, a development of the moments method based on Weibull distribution of activity time is presented. The method provides an accurate estimate of the project completion time compared with other d.f. s estimates. 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Constrained Non-Renewable Resource Allocation in Metagraphs with Discrete Random ‎Times

In this paper, it is supposed that a project can be shown as a metagraph. The duration of activities are discrete random variables with known probability function, also one kind of consumable and constrained resource is required to execute each activity of the project. The objective of this paper is to maximize the probability of completion of stochastic metagraph before the due date of the proj...

Activity Networks and Uncertainty Quantification: 2 Order Probability for Solving Graphs of Concurrent and Sequential Tasks

Activity networks model the time to project completion based on the times to complete various subtasks, some of which can proceed concurrently and others of which are prerequisite to others. Uncertainty in the times to complete subtasks implies uncertainty in the overall time to complete the project. When the information about the times to complete subtasks is insufficient to fully specify a pr...

Adjustment of the moments of the project completion times when activity times are exponentially distributed

The problem of determining the moment of the project completion time (MPCT) with stochastic activity durations is addressed. In the direct approach the MPCT is obtained after analyzing all possible network paths which is NP-hard problem. A recursive method for determining MPCT by proceeding iteratively over the nodes is the computationally least demanding and therefore the most efficient approa...

Analysis of critical paths in a project network with random fuzzy activity times

Project planning is part of project management, which is relates to the use of schedules such as Gantt charts to plan and subsequently report progress within the project environment. Initially, the project scope is defined and the appropriate methods for completing the project are determined. In this paper a new approach for the critical path analyzing a project network with random fuzzy activi...

Project Scheduling with Simultaneous Optimization, Time, Net Present Value, and Project Flexibility for Multimode Activities with Constrained Renewable Resources

Project success is assessed based on various criteria, every one of which enjoys a different level of importance for the beneficiaries and decision makers. Time and cost are the most important objectives and criteria for the project success. On the other hand, reducing the risk of finishing activities until the predetermined deadlines should be taken into account. Having formulated the problem ...
